Look no further if you desire a hip hostel in Berlin. The Generator Hostel gives a completely new meaning to what you may envision in a hostel. From the public spaces to the private or shared rooms, you’ll be impressed by its boutique style and amenities.
At street level the massive grey stone facade is made inviting with plants and an array of brightly colored café tables and chairs. Inside there’s nothing to hide. Everything is exposed from the black stained polished concrete floors, the raw concrete structure, round ductwork, black conduit, to aged brick walls.
It’s an open social hangout with areas defined by function and furniture. The café’s wooden picnic tables are lined with timber storage cube seats on a carpet of diagonal black and cream tiles. Banquettes upholstered in black line two walls – one with street views through tall windows and one under a vibrant graffiti inspired mural.
A library lounge is fresh and bright with two enormous leather sofas on a deep shag rug. The open bookcase is lit with randomly placed adjustable black desk lamps. Stainless steel lines the galley shaped bar. Just a thin narrow shelf runs the length opposite. It’s a dividing line on a wall of black with colorful art. Mirrored ceiling tiles with tiny black cone lights create vibrant reflections.
Rooms are stylish and sturdy with timber floors and wall panels. Under bed storage keeps shared rooms tidy. Tiled baths are crisp and modern, one with a certain to wake you up pattern of diagonal black and white tile.
