Das Bier is a Montreal, Canadian crafted delight. Based on the industrial styling of a German Bierhall concept – Das Bier combines great beer with a traditional European community watering hole feel.
By opening up the interior and harmonizing what was once three separate spaces, Humà design + architecture was able to turn lofty dreams of pouring liquid drafted delights to customers, into a work of art welcoming craft beer lovers and the curious general public alike.
Communal tables set the tone for this custom friendly neighborhood pub, and the main bar sets the stage with “Steins” – a traditional Bavarian beer mug, locked away within a white backed bar space. Not to be overshadowed by the 20 draft beer taps making it’s way through the wall – literally.
Keeping with traditional decor, Bier hall chandeliers light the restaurant with their perforated steel and subtle lighting effects, while some original elements remain from the buildings past.
Humà design + architecture discovered that the terrazzo floors and stone facade they uncovered during demolition, could be implemented perfectly into the design, actually enhancing the space, and offering this Bier Hause the homey appeal tradition calls for.
Although Das Bier lends itself to the beer aficionado, all who stumble upon this location are likely to stop for a sip of beer, and probably stumble (ideally safely) home after enjoying more than just one!
