This cradle bed by New Zealand based company Okooko is called Float. I wouldn’t mind floating upon this beautiful cradle bed through my dreams. Coming up to the conclusion that beds needed to be more romantic, and more flexible in their design and application, designer David Trubridge came up with a concept that the bed could be moved and used wherever required.
This cradle bed concept was based on forming a private sleep space, almost like a cocoon, providing a feeling of security while sheltering the sleeper from the elements.
“Sleep is romantic, nomadic; the journey of life; Sleep is a voyage through dreams when we wholly give ourselves up in trust, lying curled up in our bed vessel feeling safe and cozy. It can be ten minutes in the office, an hour on the lawn or all night in any place we pull our cradle to.” says Trubridge.
Float cradle bed is hand crafted from sustainable harvest New Zealand native Totara timber. Acrylic fabric finished in Teflon encloses the base and canopy of Float, while the open-cell foam core mattress structure is suitable for exterior use and promotes fast moisture transportation and evaporation.
Okooko unique collection spans all things bedroom; from furniture design, sleep technologies to a range of accessories, all inspired by nature’s healthy and replenishing environment.
