Australian artist Timothy Horn created these amazing lamps. These unique, large-scale jellyfish ‘chandeliers’ are based on 19th century engravings of jellyfish, by German zoologist Ernst Haeckel.
These large chandelier like structures are made of cast silicone rubber and fiber optics. The largest measures 9ft in diameter.
Horn’s earlier works are based on his interest in the point at which beauty becomes vulgar and to tell you the truth I am so overwhelmed with the jellyfish ‘chandeliers’ that I’m not quite sure if they are magnificent or a bit creepy. However they make you feel, these lamps are one-of-a-kind.
the photos don’t do them justice – they’re amazing, and HUGE!
Aren’t they?… They remind me a bit of the Alien material, to be honest. However, they are striking.
truely beautiful.
