Located in a rural site in Suffolk, England, the Sliding House, by London-based architecture firm dRMM, is consisted from three conventional buildings and a big surprise. The catch is a 20 ton independent steel and timber structure that slides – Now you see it, now you don’t.
This mobile roof/wall structure is powered by hidden electric motors on wheels integrated into the wall thickness.
With a press of a button, the building composition can be changed, creating various combination of enclosure, open air living and framing of views.
