Who wouldn’t want a house in the countryside. A holiday home that has been tailored for your needs, where you can relax, take long walks and enjoy the fresh air. Two young art collectors are fortunate to call this beautiful modern home their country house.
Tsai Residence is a 400 sq. meters weekend home located two hours upstate from New York City. Its design reflects the owners passion for art – a simple, abstract looking structure, with four equally-sized boxes, built as simple wood construction, covered with metal panels on the outside and wood and gypsum panels on the inside.
Inside, the design provides perfect conditions for the existing and future art collection, while the nearby countryside views can be enjoyed without being too dominant.
Also, the sequence of the different rooms reflects the idea of a private gallery. Natural light is coming into the spaces through the openings in between the outer boxes.
The private stairs go up from the public first floor to the intimate spaces on the second floor.
Take a look at the library, isn’t it wonderful? A cozy space by the fire to read a book…
The master bathroom with a central fireplace is directly connected to the adjacent master bedroom.
There’s also an outdoor swimming pool and an outdoor terrace, partially open to the sky, with an integrated fire place.
The entire experience is completed with a wooden deck cantilivering over the water of the Taghkanic Creek, which means in Native American ‘forest wilderness’ or ‘in the trees’ – Simply perfect.
