I love going to my local farmers’ market, the stalls are always packed with fresh produce and there’s such an abundance of colors and smells that I always end up with baskets full of fresh fruit and vegetables.
I prefer seasonal cooking but I also like to buy produce and preserve or freeze it for use later on when it’s scarcer. One of my favorites is fresh corn on the cob. I like it best at the beginning of the season when the kernels are small and sweet. I make the usual corn dishes like chowders, corn pudding and relishes and I also like to add raw kernels to my salads.
The Kuhn Rikon Stainless Steel Corn Zipper makes it easy to remove the corn kernels from the cob and is much safer than using my regular kitchen knife. It is shaped so that the sharp teeth cut between the cob and the kernels and I can quickly remove whole rows of kernels in one go, straight into the bowl.
This effective little gadget is shaped like a smiling Venetian mask, it’s made of stainless-steel and is dishwasher safe. The corn zipper is a time-saving tool that cuts down the preparation time for all my garden-fresh corn dishes.
