I was very excited to receive the British Isles Map from UK-based design studio, Bold & Noble. As a graphics designer I value the complexity of their work, and inspired by their beautifully-made screen prints, hand crafted in the old-fashioned way.
From book covers to tea towels to twenty-foot walls, their design work is sensitive and beautifully detailed, featuring gorgeous nature illustrations, typeface compositions and more – all of very high quality. It was extremely hard for me to choose my favorite piece, which in my opinion says it all. Simply charming!
Their Type Map collection features the British Isles, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and more – available in Duck Egg Blue, Sheer Slate, and Poppy Red. This lovely collection features no ordinary maps, but ones that are constructed form different-sized type, depicting local cities and towns.
Perfectly sized at 50cm x 70cm – not too small yet not too big – prints are printed on 250gsm card, crafted on recycled paper then carefully wrapped and packed by hand.
Here are a few more examples of their wonderful work:
London Type Map printed on a 9m x 4m wallpaper for a new restaurant at Haymarket in London.
Enchanting book covers for Jane Struthers, Essie Fox, and more.
Colorful prints which would turn any spot in the house into a special place.
You just took Graphic Design to the next level. Imaginative and Art Gallery chic…I love it.
Awfully similar to Ork Posters, I think they came first actually. It’s a bummer that this happens a lot in design.
