Ferm Living Tea Towels bring the best of Scandinavian design into your kitchen. The tea towel is the product of 18th century England. It was a special linen drying cloth that only the mistress of the house used to dry her precious and expensive china (the servants weren’t trusted to do such delicate work). Even though we’ve come a long way from then and I now own a dishwasher and disposable towels, I still find myself drying my collection of old china dishes (roses and gold leaf) by hand.
The Ferm Tea Towels are ideal for this job, they are made of 100% cotton so they don’t scratch the delicate patterns and they don’t leave scuff marks on the flatware. As with other Ferm products, the prints on the towels are oh-so-gorgeous.
There are numerous series of designs to choose from: a series with whimsical black and white illustrations, another has graphic patterns in sophisticated colors, there are towels with retro leaf motifs and some that are full color prints with the illustration in negative.
They are nice and cheerful, that I now find myself surrounded by volunteers to help me do the dishes. But even if you never use them to dry they are a beautiful and clever way to accessorize your kitchen: hang them on your oven door, use them to cover fresh bread or line a serving tray. Whatever their use, these tea towels are fashionable, functional and they come packed in 100% recycled cardboard envelopes, making them a perfect little gift for a friend or for yourself.
