Extravagant is not the word I would use to describe this home, however I’m sure it will catch your eye if you should pass by this quiet street in Bozeman, Montana. This house is small, only 1,200 sq .ft., adorned with lively colors – green and blue with touches of orange/red – and a distinct apple tree in the front lawn.
The structure consists of two connected units on two levels; ground floor includes a garage next to a small home office; on top you will find a kitchen/living area and an un-suite bedroom, extended by various decks and outdoor spaces.
Inside, one of the most prominent features has got to be the unique counterbalanced steel stair, which leads to the third floor loft space on the upper level.
The stair can be manually pulled down or pushed up as required with a minimum of physical effort; when not in use, the stair can be raised freeing up valuable space below. This is such an effective solution for small spaces, while still keeping it stylish, modern and comfortable.
“As a result of a subdivided lot from an underutilized lot, Apple 8 takes advantage of the unique opportunity to rise above the neighboring rear yards to both capture views and the solar window while offering an important and welcomed infill frontage along the Peach streetscape.”
LOVE this design! The use of color can go a long way to really spice up a smaller home like this. I’m surprised there’s not more emphasis on outdoor living space, though. No real patio or deck area (that’s in the photos, at least).
