The next project, situated in Brito, Portugal, captures us with its unique combination of two materials: rusted metal and large natural stone.
The bold – ultimately red – color of the rusted metal cladding gets even more daring under the streams of the powerful Portuguese sun. The flat surface of this cladding contrasts with the volumetric and exciting texture of the stone masonry. These materials are applied in the design of this private house very generously and extensively, so that the attention is drawn only to the solid, charming surfaces of the stone and metal, as if they tried to show the majestic value of this charming home.
The planning structure of the house is no less generous: the rooms are organized around the inner patio. The whole social zone of the house is located traditionally on the ground floor, having access to the patio with the picturesque pool.
The vast garage and the master bedroom’s complex are also placed here: the built area of the house (6100 sq. ft.) allows comfortable distribution of all these rooms on one level. The first floor, instead, doesn’t take all the floor area over the ground floor: it takes only as much as needed for 2 bedrooms and a luxurious void (mezzanine) over the living room. As a result, the building – being really big and stretched horizontally – gets the interesting dynamics upwards.
The house fits perfectly its surroundings – it looks extremely organic settled on the green lawn, on the background of the hills. These views add up to the elegance of the entire interior design.
