Could this project be an astounding mirage? In the valley town of Ayora, Spain a white sculptural building seems to erupt from the impressive rocky ground that marks the entire topography.
This fine piece of architecture consists in a three-story residence with 230sq.m. of built area. The distribution of the program is quite simple and pursuits a principle of privacy: a garage and a small cellar occupies the ground floor along with a staircase that invites us to the upper floor. The first floor is composed by two bedrooms and a toilet. The top floor is twice the size of the floors below and contains a third bedroom, as well as a living room that opens out onto an enclosed courtyard.
To assure a full sense of intimacy, large panels slide across windows on the front and side of the house giving a dynamic expression to the cubic white facades. A central double-height space functions as a communication device between social and private areas.
Light kindly descends from above guiding our steps through this exquisite white volume that appears to emerge from the mountain side… Instead of a rusty mineral skin, this immaculate bright architecture is totally covered in stucco, the same material used in the traditional village houses. Also the interior environment shares the exterior white aura that this contemporary residence brilliantly irradiates.
