If stone walls, brick arches, and weathered wood beams make you swoon, then you should take a seat! Interior designer Maire Laure Helmkampf transformed this mill in Provence in to her own home. Maire has highlighted the historic structure with an open plan. Large steel windows allow natural light to flood the home and enhance the texture of the raw worn materials of the former mill.
A truly eclectic mix of furnishings is artfully arranged for sophisticated yet inviting comfort. The living room offers several seating configurations. Play games at the Saarinen-esque table while seated in well-loved claw foot chairs. Or grab a book and choose between a tufted sofa, mid-century modern chair, and even a swing.
A weathered desk serves as the kitchen island while sleek modern cabinets back up to aged field stone. Stone arches frame the massive window opening here, as in the living room. Spare and modern, the dining room flows outside if you care to dine alfresco.
In the bedrooms, the floors are warmed by grass carpets. Again simple vintage and modern furnishings are secondary to the light washed stone walls. Antique doors provide entrance to the main bedroom, where a slate grey wall compliments the stone and makes the room more intimate. That grey wall flows in to a bath where a large round mirror shows you how lucky you are to live here.
Love the natural look and the uncluttered serenity!.
