A simple window added to a traditional hemlock and walnut sauna pushes this model out of the ordinary, and into the beautiful. The sauna also has a suite of up-to date extras including Bluetooth audio systems and a weekly planner, but the clear glass side is the design element that sets it apart.
By allowing the sweltering inhabitants to gaze on the views from their hot box, the designers aim to enhance the feeling of comfort and security that the sauna gives. The actual heat is conserved by the use of 8mm tempered glass. The look is one of Scandinavian (of course) minimalism.
The exterior of the sauna has a sharp-edged form, and uses the lines of the lining and cladding planks to add interest, although the usual ladle and bucket trappings are provided.
As saunas are so often placed in beautiful but also private places, from mountainsides to indoor spa areas, it seems a shame to have to spend sauna time looking at the inside of a crate. This model allows that relaxation time to be enhanced by the natural surroundings.
For nude relaxation, the fact that the window is not full-height is reassuring (and also saves those on the outside from blushes), and also gives a place for the eyes to focus that is not on your fellow bodies.
