Sitting down to read a book is a simple activity, a behavior like drinking a glass of water. Whether you’re patient enough to stay seated and finish a chapter is different. But reading a book is basically a two-step process: take book out of bookcase; open binding and read. The Kobo Mini, a compact version of the Kobo Inc.’s eReader, seems to emphasize this “it’s easy to read” principle, only in electronic form.
The Kobo Mini is a straightforward device for eReading at home or while across the Atlantic Ocean on a plane. The design is based around the e ink touchscreen. Other than .2 inches of plastic around the edge of the screen, the Mini is made up of the 5″ display. At .4 inches thin, the Kobo Mini can easily fit in a jacket pocket, one huge advantage over carrying around a bulky novel.
Like most eReaders, the Mini is equipped with Wi-Fi, and Kobo Inc. has their own eBook store but also partners with independent bookstores to distribute paperbacks, rather binarybacks to readers.
