I’m a serious color lover, or some may say a color addict. Color soothes my soul, energizes me, makes me focus, and brings me joy. Funny thing is that the same is true of beautiful materials – through their individual merit or beautifully orchestrated as in this home.
I counted seven types and colors of wood and they’re all purposefully placed for contrast and warmth, and never in the background. The eat-in kitchen table of cinnamon colored wood hosts blonde wood stools. Large grained wood counters are the major textural element in the kitchen, backed up by the grid of the pantry shelving.
The built in seating of the living area becomes part of a stair. Simply elegant chairs in black and white add stylish texture. Or stretch out in the lounge bag to catch a nap in the sun.
Spaces with great volume often seem vast and cold. Yet in this light filled home there are two open lofts that allow the light streaming through the massive windows to spread to every nook.
Travel upstairs on the hefty in weight but light in color wood stair treads that are highlighted by the black steel supporting stringer. I’m a huge fan of the crazy wrapped wire that artfully fills the opening of the guard rail.
