This is a place with my name written all over it and those of you following the posts in Busyboo’s Interior Design section I’m so gladly bringing you, might have noticed the kind of spaces that make my heart skip a bit, while the neurons in my head fire with excitement.
Let us make a simple mathematical equation: interesting architectural design featuring simplicity and a white canvas, plus elements in natural wood, plus open plan living, plus open integrated shelving, plus organic forms, plus a selective collection of modern design furniture and vintage finds, plus richness in texture such as the one provided by exposed bricks painted white, with simplicity, lightness, coziness and comfort being the common denominator and I’m immediately at home.
What about you dear readers of this column? What are your tastes? I absolutely love this four story Victorian terrace East London home for the family-friendly and easy going feeling it conveys. A living room and and an open plan dining and kitchen area are situated on the ground floor. A library, two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. A master suite and a mezzanine dressing room on the top floor, while the basement gives home to a utility room, a larder and a toilet.
Have you seen Noa’s arc with the animals in the center of that fabulous sun room? Or that plywood doll house resting on the wall in the room just before the kitchen? I love it when parents incorporate their child’s toys in their house decor.
I love it when there is selectivity and education about what kind of and how many toys enter the family residence. Living with good design is hardly only about aesthetics, It’s about leading a conscious, curated life, where the ability to choose is highly exercised and cherished.
