The market for dining and casual chairs is a busy one, but nonetheless the smooth bones and light adaptability of the Branca chair are wondrously covetable.
The design seems to have grown organically into shape, helped by the natural wooden material (just ash or beech are on the menu in green, white or black). In fact, this effect requires ‘robotic’ precision, using automation to make the entire back frame from one piece of wood, and using this same mechanization to execute invisible joinery at the critical bends.
The Branca (‘branch’) chair also has a great personality aside from good looks – it is highly durable, light and moveable, and can be stacked up. We can see it brand spanking new conservatories, or equally around start-up business meeting tables. After all, Mattiazzi graces the spaces of Nike, Novartis and many more ultra cool, ultra functional spaces.
Light on look, heavy on design.
