I’m having a case of serious enamourement with the home residence of French photographer Pascal Francois and his family. He, his wife and two children are enjoying life in this converted waffle factory, located in Lille France, there where Europe’s largest flea market takes place once a year, every September.
From every vertical to every horizontal surface, to every furniture choice, to the overall decoration and styling, I cannot stop meticulously looking at the pictures, trying to absorb as much of its beauty as possible, just with an eye’s glance. I have always loved converted spaces for the open plan living that they generously offer and, as noticed here, for the huge, numerous windows all around. Heaven on earth, or better heaven in an ex waffle factory!
Things that I can’t get my eyes off include the grey sofa standing plain and elegant, promising hours of conversations, board games or just relax and cuddling. Then, the amazing pottery collection resting on the window sill, bringing life and color in the paired down living room. Some vibrant, others in muted colors, in various sizes, in simple forms. I imagine them having being picked during excursions at La Branderie, the prementioned flea market.
The exposed brick walls in the kitchen also draw my attention. But what totally has me there is the dining table with the A shaped trestle wooden legs. Oh poetry! Then details such as the use of wallpaper mimicking old wooden planks, chalkboard walls, industrial storage solutions mixed with fine vintage 50s furniture, the backdrop tile also in the kitchen and the concrete floors all over, are all aspects that bring together a welcoming spacious home marrying beautifully industrial and Scandinavian elements in a very personal way.
