I always say that the most beautifully satisfying rooms have a statement piece – a piece that pulls them out of the every day ordinary. Of course a statement piece cannot hide a multitude of sins so a strong foundation is always required. That’s exactly where Vuong Interior Design began in the creation of this Barcelona loft. Daylight floods in to the kitchen through new skylights and plants and sun light wash in from the patio and entice you outside. The oiled oak floors are sun-kissed bronze in color and display their personality next to the pure white walls.
On this firm foundation the designer built a mostly neutral palette of wood, white, and grey. White kitchen cabinets disappear behind the wood work top. On the terrace a wooden picnic table is the visual highlight, though the sumptuous white sofa is calling my name. The mix of accessories personalizes and lets the terrace delight you for lounging, dining, reading…
Back inside the living area balances three statement pieces – the sassy figural art and the twig tables that double as stools. On the opposite side of the room, white dining table and chairs whisper to the modern ornate chandelier.
Most of the loft’s color is for residents only. The main bedroom’s headboard in a lush tufted plum fabric is variegated like a bunch of ripe grapes. I love how moody and bold and purple the graphic is and the quirky grape lamp aside the frilly metallic crystal-dripping bedside fixture. Vintage posters and wall coverings make the statement in the second bedroom where the rich violet pops in on pillows.
