The award winning Lockwood chair, launched in 2008, is the creative child of two brothers, Vincent and Paul Georgeson. They believe in furniture communicating the elements of simplicity, functionality and honesty. And honestly, they seem to have effortlessly achieved that, by bringing to life their chair model made of wood and metal. An ergonomically shaped wooden seat, supported by a metal frame. Which however does come with a felt back pad for those who like to keep their good posture just a little bit more comfy literally, but also cozier looking.
Wood’s organic quality balances beautifully with steel’s man made fabrication. The latter being so incredibly strong and rigid, it borrows some life and humanity from wood’s texture. Walnut and Maple are the two varieties Lockwood chair is available, combined with power coated steel in such color variations as black and grey. They measure 30. 5 x 16 x 19 inches, with a weight of 25 lbs.
Georgeson brothers are committed to responsible manufacturing, creating long lasting, high quality furnishings with minimal environmental impact. It is also important for the creative duo that their designs are locally produced. Indeed so they are, as both the walnut or maple seats are produced in Minnesota, USA, with the exception of the steel and aluminum required for the production of the frame.
Adding the plastic legs and assembling the whole pieces of furniture together takes place in Milwaukee. Lockwood chair can be found under the name Misewell, can be easily considered a collectible piece and has already won the Best Designer Award at ICFF in 2009. Congratulations Georgesons!
