Wintertime calls for candle light, a cozy fireplace, hot drinks, warm blankets and the getting together of family in the heart of the house, wherever this might be. During this time of year, my favorite thing to do is to be lighting up, admittedly a few dozens of candles, scattered in our little maisonette by the woods. From early morning breakfasts to dinners in the evening. However matches are more romantic and add to the the whole ritual, there are times that simply proceeding a little bit faster and more effective with the whole process addresses the needs of our everyday life. I love functional objects that require no hiding after or before their use is completed. It makes for easiness. So, I’m always on the search for the perfect table lighter.
Being a lover of all things white and often transparent, Block Design’s acrylic table lighter attracted my interest, as its design combines my love for geometric shapes and the discreteness of transparency. Since it comes with a refillable gas insert, it also addresses our home’s needs of lighting up multiple candles 2 times a day, daily, for as long as our rather long winters last.
I can imagine it’ll look pretty with our home’s minimal and selected decoration, wherever it might be placed or accidentally forgotten, its characteristic shape and design will be making it easy to spot. For those preferring a little bit of color, there are the grey and brown versions, still very elegant. The orange version will satisfy the tastes of the bolder ones. Asides from purchasing one for yourself, it also makes for a nice present.
The only thing I’d do differently, is the package design. The otherwise nicely crafted square box, could be having colors – or just be made from craft paper for that matter – that address the respective color of the lighter inside. And then, with simple white or gray one can never go wrong. There, a little piece of advice, if I may, that might enhance the popularity of this object even more.
