The perpetual calendar by Block Design is part of the company’s confident, rainbow hued range of homeware, designed in Cornwall UK. The calendar is as simple as they come, using cut-out letters and numbers with a reverse colored magnet that shifts to highlight the current date.
Though it bears resemblance to a pop art optician’s table, the text of the perpetual calendar is anything but nonsense. The first four lines are MON to SUN, and the rest are the numbers 1 to 31. The product comes in airbrushed grey, electric blue or orange or (the brightest you can fathom), with pink, yellow and blue magnet markers respectively. The typology is stencil like, making sure the piece doesn’t look too playschool-esque.
Though it relies on manual updating and assumes that you know what month it is (come on people!), the calendar is still a useful addition to a workstation. Aside from being reusable year after year, the lightweight A frame design and magnet concept mean it looks a damn sight better than most calendars free from the electrician.
