English countryside. Local produce. A traditional pub. A small number of bedrooms. They all somehow merge together and unify under one roof, one name: The Wild Rabbit. A newly opened, small hotel with its very own pub and restaurant in Kingham, Oxfordshire. The owner is Lady Bamford, the founder and inspiration behind Daylesford, UK’s most glamorous organic farm shop. A building dating back to 1750 with the most charming chalky white interiors, typical of the Eco-chic hotelier.
In the restaurant, three fireplaces and local produce such as ham and freshly baked bread set a cozy, inviting atmosphere, leading you to take a seat at one of the chairs at the round, wooden tables. Natural tones are mixed with fresh green, white and black, effortlessly creating a stylish setting which yet feels as good as being at home.
Gigantic bouquets of fresh, local flowers are gathered together in simple, transparent vases living up the space in an instant. Smaller, fruity floral arrangements decorate the table settings, paired so prettily with linen napkins and white plates featuring the hotelier’s logo.
In each one of the amazing 12 bedrooms, organic linens and a handmade bed give a tone of grounded luxury. Large planks make up the wooden floors which are topped with natural fiber carpets adding warmth. The light streaming in from the windows just emphasizes the texture and beauty of the chalky white stone walls just a little bit more. Botanical art framed matches perfectly with the decor.
I’m already imagining a couple of late fall days spent relaxing on the room’s traditional and comfy armchairs, while gazing at the beautiful surrounding countryside, but only till time for dinner would come. Time to curl up in front of the fireplace and indulge in the taste of fresh bread.
