Today’s beautiful interior design gem featuring such a cute name as “The log Cabin”, is located in Australia’s Melbourne and it got fully renovated in as little as three months, something that taken into consideration the dark and run down previous condition of the 70’s timber home, looks like a quite the task to achieve. Not when a construction manager and his interior decorator and stylist wife are involved though.
Simone and Rhys Haag acquired the property in June 2011 and ever since, with the help of good planning, rather countless buckets of white paint, as much as five coats of it for some parts of the timber paneling, they have managed to transform this place into a beautiful space with a relaxed Scandinavian feel.
Some rooms such as the kitchen and the bathroom were completely redesigned, while the main living and dining areas were laid with new flooring, Austrian larch in a very smooth and soft texture and feel being their choice. Cozy woolen carpets cover the bedroom floors, where additional white timber paneling dresses the walls, matching the original ones in the bedroom. Beautiful ceramic finds, most of them vintage pieces Simone has hunted in her favorite online shops and flea markets are displayed harmoniously on the shelves of a String system, which accommodates them all, while leaving the space free to breathe.
Carefully chosen and elegant contemporary furniture peacefully coexist with found pieces throughout the whole house. In the living room, a giant brick wall expands to the sides and above a fireplace. In the kitchen, a Smeg fridge sets the tone. Gorgeous natural light streams inside from the many and large windows, only to be reflected on the white wooden paneling and return softer… A house with character, reflecting the personalities of its owners but most of all telling that this is a place to call home, a place which was lovingly made and where love lives.
