Designed by Coast Office Architecture, TBone House is a surprising three-story building in Stuttgart, Germany, which unexpectedly references the letter T in its unusual form.
The150sqm volume rises above glazed plinth on the ground floor to a monolithic form above, while the kitchen and living areas are placed into the slope on the lower ground level. One glazed infill serves as a garage for a Porsche, exposed to the street as if on display, while the other is reserved for an open living room with large windows on three sides bringing the garden indoors.
The first floor is composed by private rooms and bathroom and follows a different spatial strategy, more introverted with a certain sense of privacy. Even a small sauna is carefully hidden behind a series of sliding shutters, showing how much this house is full of mystery at every step of its domestic journey.
An enigmatic silhouette is revealed day and night, as the T-shaped volume seems to be magically floating in mid air. By night, it’s even more impressive with the use of artificial light and the transparency of its glazed facades.
