It has always been my belief that bare wood, with little if any modification, inspires the best design. Also, somewhat of a confused geek, I shift between loving digital technology and being completely frustrated with it. If ever I’m in one of my anti-technology spells, I’d imagine the Pieces of Time clock by Ding 3000 to satisfy the need for simpler technology and design.
Made from Ash, this wall clock is simply a perfectly unadorned face with a minute and hour hand. Although the smooth Ash wood is barely manipulated, the Pieces of Time clock has a clever feature.
The face is divided into hours one through 12, the only difference observable by the various shades and grains of the wood that is alternated as the hours advance. 3 o’clock may be signified by a darker swatch of wood and horizontal grain. 7 o’clock may have vertical grains.
The Pieces of Time Clock is an expression of the designers paying attention to using natural features instead of creating features of their own.
Clock hands are available in black, grey, red, green, blue, or purple.
