Since I haven’t traveled there yet, I can only imagine the vibrant pace of Madrid, its warm climate, and its rich culture. I would probably delight in a home that creates a bit of a sanctuary, yet doesn’t deny the vigorous city outside. This compact two bedroom, one bath apartment is a wealth of history and style with unabashed dashes of color.
The living room is bright and lit by transom covered glass doors that lead to a small terrace. Primary colors pop off the white walls, canvas slip covered sofa, and wide plank wood floors. A velvety exposed seam mustard color pouf balances a canary yellow Eames shell rocker. Crimson and navy hang on the wall in a British flag inspired canvas.
A crisp white kitchen hosts a tiny tulip table and molded plywood chairs in red and navy. The modern origami of Le Klint pendant light designed by Poul Christiansen in the early 1970s has been graced with a rich red Moroccan lantern. Pops of yellow and red and blue appear throughout the home, though they dwindle in the private spaces.
The modern bath is a study in white and glass and crystal and burnished metal in the diffused light through frosted windows. The main bedroom blends the blue and yellow to a soft emerald floating over a setting of rich wood and a feathery fringed carpet.
