I tend to prefer bright colors yet I’m smitten with the sophistication of the pastel pops of color in this London home. The 3 bedroom flat is a creamy showcase of style and icons of design. Start with an entire box of white – walls, ceiling, furniture, built-ins, kitchen counters and cabinets. Then anchor these with a sun-kissed sand colored wide plank floor.
The rectangular wood dining table matches the floor and seats six in the Eames Eiffel side chairs, white of course. A large modern graphic canvas is the only color in the room. And the colors are pastel, though modern and bright. The pendant light is an elegant circular pleated confection suspended from virtually invisible cables. I love how it mimics the white draperies that casually stretch to the ceiling of the living room beyond.
Here you’re greeted by a grey and white zig zag rug that’s playing it cool in a formal arrangement of twin chrome legged sofas. Saarinen tulip side tables pair up with a glass coffee table. Splashes of pastels appear in pillows, coffee table books, and a second modern pastel painting.
The kitchen is stunning with white and grey marble counters for seating and food prep. The cold wire of the stools is greatly contrasted by almost ripe tomato colored fluffy generous cushions. Three mirrored orbs light the space and highlight a bold in size and graphic painting.
