Scandinavian designers have got it. They know exactly how to create and manufacture a piece of furniture that does what it’s supposed to but looks beautiful at the same time. Neither form nor function is better than the other. Both work in tandem in Scandinavian design. The Around Coffee Table from Muuto, designed by Thomas Bentzen, is full of the basic thesis of Scandinavian design. By Bentzen’s own admission, the table is functional, simple, and meets the human need it was designed to be attentive to.
With an ash plywood edge, a plywood table top, and solid ash legs, the Around table is light on materials but strong with design principles. Available in a large and small version, and many, many colors, the Around table can be coordinated with any interior, and it will draw attention but it won’t demand being the centerpiece.
As Bentzen said, the Around table has a modern identity but traditional values, both characteristics making this a sure piece of furniture for the rustic-meets-modern home.
