Are you thinking about a trip to Brazil? If so, this lovely hostel in the tranquil town of Vila Mariana is a perfect spot to rest your weary head. South of the bustling city of Sao Paulo, this house is perfectly situated near subways and bike rental shops, a prime location for travelers who want to experience the local flavor.
The WE Hostel Design was developed with the idea that hostels can bring together comfort, style, safety and fun. The architectural team’s goal was to combine the coziness of hostels with the comfort of the best hotels around the world. This mansion, originally built in 1910, has retained its’ original footprint, and has been updated to reflect modern interior design and upscale hotel amenities.
Upon entering the hostel via the courtyard, you are struck by the crisp white facade contrasting with the coal black windows and shutters. The front desk, visible at the entrance door is painted in an inviting color of persimmon. Step inside and you are met with a simple design aesthetic, each piece of furniture has been carefully selected.
Furnishings are eclectic and range from re-purposed theater seating, comfortable fabric covered chairs to a mid-century stereo cabinet that can be used for music appreciation. Walls are left bare with the exception of the chalkboard ceiling in the main room, a great way for guests to share their thoughts and feelings about their stay.
With space for 46 guests, the rooms vary from fully private (for couples), to one private and six shared rooms. All shared room’s come with individual lockers, wall sockets and contemporary reading lights. One of the private bathrooms is tiled in a bright turquoise color and is complemented with a serene marble countertop and white fixtures.
For those travelers who are weary of cookie cutter hotel rooms, the WE Hostel Design is a lovely retreat that combines a love of mid-century design with the comforts of a historic hotel.
