The Okum Desk is a designer piece that was created with the needs to the modern user in mind. In its minimalistic design, the Okum Desk offers an inviting space for users to place their electronic devices, store their papers and have plenty of working room to write and create. The Okum Desk was also made with attention to the human body and its form. Its design is ergonomically sensitive and as such it has a soft, slated ledge that eliminates any abrupt edges.
Designed by David Okum, this desk is a finalist for the prestigious DWR Dwell Live/Work contest. The desk has a large central working area characterized by an appealing seamless curve.
Tucked away in the center of the desk is a pullout drawer for a keyboard or storage. Slightly raised from the desk itself are three cubbyholes for additional storage. The cubbyholes again have a soft curved design and the fact that they are elevated provides additional storage space below.
The Okum Desk is made from molded plywood. The base is made with intersecting powder-coated steel rods and tubes and the height of the desk can be adjusted without needing additional components.
