The Blom Table Lamp is an exquisitely designed light fixture that is composed of small petal like pieces. Just like in a flower, the petals gently intertwine to create a beautiful whole. This modern design was inspired by nature and specifically by the process of growth which triggers the emergence of shapes in nature.
The curved petals of the Blom Lamp are made from of High Density Polyethylene and are created using a combination of traditional and digital die cutting techniques. The petals are beautifully complimented by the wooden legs of the Lamp. They are made from reconstituted veneer wood and have a grain pattern which is also reminiscent of growth in nature. You can choose from three different wood colors for the legs- Light Walnut, Rosewood and Dark Birdseye.
The Blom also uses the “Rompitratta” switch created by Italian designer Achille Castiglioni which adds a touch of nostalgia and elegance. Also, to add zest and color, the cord is covered in cloth and comes in 7 different colors- Teal, Lavender, Light Grey, Red, Forest Green, Navy Blue and Dark Grey. The dimensions of the Lamp are 29 x 29 x 37 cm and it weighs 0.570 kg.
The Blom Lamp is also ecological. Using efficient digital manufacturing wastage is significantly reduced and the packaging was brought down to a minimum. Additionally, the outer box is mostly made from recycled paper and doubles as the assembly manual.
The Lamp was designed by Sander Bakker, a Dutch born artist based in the Sierra Nevada mountains, USA.
