Elkebana is a wall-mounted trophy for plant lovers. It is a fully loaded whimsical riff on the ancient Japanese art of harmoniously arranging flowers. Fabio Milito and Paula Studio create this unique, warm-your-heart, piece in Italy. If you just saw the wooden shield, you would assume it would be awaiting a taxidermied creature. Yet this trophy is safe for vegans and non-hunters alike. Just add flowers and imagination to create an ever-changing display of nature’s bounty.
Each Elkebana shield is hand crafted of 4 cm. thick birch plywood with a beveled edge. Its creamy warm tones complement any home or office décor. And with a size of just 27 x 30 cm, you’ll want more than one. Two pocket slots hold two hand blown transparent glass vases. They remove for easy water refills and cleaning.
Of course, the real fun comes with what you place inside the vases. I imagine bringing the first spring woodland blooms inside. Or forcing spring tree blooms inside in the cold grey days of winter. Seasonal arrangements are unlimited. Give one to a friend with her favorite flowers. Start a conversation and a new trend with Elkebana. Now I’ll be out in the woods looking for beautiful branches.
