The Cherry Flat by Sergey Makhno Architects does anything but “fall flat” as far as design goes, and I feel like a standing ovation is in order for the “blossoming bathroom” …if I can be so bold as to start there!
Ukrainian artist G. Sobachko-Shostak had a hand at setting this room “a-bloom” with the teratological plexus of flowers unlike anything I have ever seen, making it a colorful oasis amidst the black and white background.
The remainder of this apartment also delivers standalone design elements that warrant a mention.
From beautiful stained glass that separates the entrance hall and kitchen, to the white brick authentic statement wall in the bedroom – leaving it unnecessary to add a headboard to this space. As well as the rich walnut flooring and walls adorned with photos from the family archives …it’s truly a richly textured flat fueled by excellent design elements.
Custom furniture including the sofa and kitchen table were crafted by a local Ukrainian manufacturer, and the neutral tones this home employs allows these custom pieces to have a voice of their own – as they should.
The walls and ceilings are comprised of a concrete decorative plaster, and the built-in lighting adds the perfect glow to a home much deserving of many a glowing review!
