Take stunningly simple, wrap it in enduring elegance, and there you will have the Kinfolk Gallery in Copenhagen. Appearing more like a modern art gallery rather than an office space, Kinfolk delivers an environment where friends and colleagues can come together to collaborate on all things creative.
Designed by the fabulous Norm Architects, the space consists of three areas. At the front you will find the public space which serves as a gallery and space for gatherings – attached to it is the semi-public work area, while small, private rooms are at the back – disconnected from the rest of the space both stylistically and physically.
The desire was to create an office that felt like coming home to an informal, familiar setting, with a side of inspired elegance based on minimalist design elements.
Small details make for big ideas in this space; from the brushed bronze cupboard door handles, to the easy breezy layout of the pine desks and overhanging simplistic light fixtures, to the round conference -slash- staff dining table.
Add to this the quirky elements such as the topsy-turvy chair flung ever so precisely in the hallway, and the bench seat with the tiny round table perched on its end, and the massive marble block topped by a single oversized bulb style light …and somehow, one finds that these conglomerate of furniture items, styles and creative concepts, come together in perfect harmony.
