Statement Loft in Barcelona: Ecological and Femenine

I always say that the most beautifully satisfying rooms have a statement piece – a piece that pulls them out of the every day ordinary. Of course a statement piece cannot hide a multitude of sins so a strong foundation is always required. That’s exactly where Vuong Interior Design began in the creation of this Barcelona loft. Daylight floods in to the kitchen through new skylights and plants and sun light wash in from the patio and entice you outside. The oiled oak floors are sun-kissed bronze in color and display their personality next to the pure white walls. Continue reading

Scandinavian design has a lot of warm supporters all over the globe and I’m certainly one of them. I’m wondering, are you one for them, too? When searching for spaces to share with you, I notice how often the spaces are either located in a Scandinavian country or are embracing the style. For today’s feature, a very chic home based in Stockholm, the residence of Art Director Pelle Lundquist, which was put on sale some months ago. Continue reading

S House: Understated luxury with views to the Mediterranean

There is just so much love one can have for a material like concrete! Some consider it cheap and cold, while others, myself included, see all the magic it withholds, ready to be unfolded in magnificent architectural elements. When concrete gets in the hands of the talented Belgian architect Nicolas Shuybroek it becomes a means of building poetry in three dimensions. Locate it in the French Riviera Cap d’Antibes in the Cote d’Azur and the outcome is a super inviting summer house with views to the Mediterranean sea. Continue reading

Maison Gaufrerie: A converted waffle factory

converted-factory-home-mg

I’m having a case of serious enamourement with the home residence of French photographer Pascal Francois and his family. He, his wife and two children are enjoying life in this converted waffle factory, located in Lille France, there where Europe’s largest flea market takes place once a year, every September.

From every vertical to every horizontal surface, to every furniture choice, to the overall decoration and styling, I cannot stop meticulously looking at the pictures, trying to absorb as much of its beauty as possible, just with an eye’s glance. I have always loved converted spaces for the open plan living that they generously offer and, as noticed here, for the huge, numerous windows all around. Heaven on earth, or better heaven in an ex waffle factory! Continue reading

Casa Vermer: A Fabulous summer house in Formentera

summer-house-formentera-9

Today we’re going on a trip to a Canarian island I yet have to visit: Formentera. If it is anything similar to Lanzarote and Tenerife, places I visited during the past 8 months, it should be just as breathtakingly gorgeous. Much like the summer property shared here.

I’d call this place a natural beauty. It has been well designed, incorporating tones of natural materials like stone, wood and concrete. Natural materials combined with neutral tones and colors, establishing an extremely easy to the eye atmosphere, a place to relax and to live at the same time feeling one with the Majesty of nature. Luxurious yet toned down, the place speaks of owners who wisely know where and how to attribute value. Continue reading

Victorian house design in East London: Easy living

This is a place with my name written all over it and those of you following the posts in Busyboo’s Interior Design section I’m so gladly bringing you, might have noticed the kind of spaces that make my heart skip a bit, while the neurons in my head fire with excitement.

Let us make a simple mathematical equation: interesting architectural design featuring simplicity and a white canvas, plus elements in natural wood, plus open plan living, plus open integrated shelving, plus organic forms, plus a selective collection of modern design furniture and vintage finds, plus richness in texture such as the one provided by exposed bricks painted white, with simplicity, lightness, coziness and comfort being the common denominator and I’m immediately at home. Karlavagen Residence: A Luxurious mixture in the heart of Stockholm

Right on the point when I was wondering whether the marble floating stairs in our German home by the woods really “work” with the wooden floors, I came across this 261sqm luxurious apartment design in Stockholm, supporting this combination.

Amazingly beautiful large wooden planks in neutral color dress the place’s living areas, such as the living room, dining area, kitchen and reading room, all in an open dialogue with one another. White walls and ceilings set the base for a chic play to unfold, featuring sophisticated tones of grey, brass details and marble elements, as seen in the stairs, bathroom, fireplace and the dining table’s top.
