Danish island house: symmetry, tranquility and a sense of space

danish-island-house

Oh dear!… I think asides queuing a bunch of adjectives in an effort to catch attention while describing this Danish house located on one of the country’s small islands, I’d rather begin with a big sigh of admiration, an “oh dear” while the pictures do the job.

From the exterior, to the interior, to the atmosphere, to the individual choices of furniture and materials used, this house is simply a marvelous example of how less can be more, of how modern can be beautifully married with traditional touches. Continue reading

The pictures you are about to indulge yourself in are strolling in the corridors of true art. Since I’ve seen this apartment I’m absolutely smitten. What moves me the most is the amazing people involved for such a residence and pictures of it to take flesh and bones.

A couple with a vision, a super talented architect, a charismatic interior stylist and an equally talented photographer, who also happen to be friends and often work together. There is so much well performed architecture out there, and the same is for the work of stylists and photographers. I believe it is the combination and engagement of amazing people that leave an unforgettable imprint on what we perceive as an outcome. Continue reading

A rather ideal way of urban living, all in white, black and grey

modern-urban-living

“Urban living in white, black and concrete grey” can well speak of this space in Stockholm’s Annedal, located just next to the water surface. How absolutely wonderful may I exclaim! Simple, clean lines, a sense of minimalism and using white as a canvas are all characteristics of Scandinavian design greatly represented here. Continue reading

There where simplicity meets excellence in design, products and details, one may find Vipp’s kitchen furniture as great representation of the concept. Furniture might be lifeless but it is the individuals involved in their evolution that brings life to them, prior to being handed in to satisfied owners, enjoying their usage.

Solid materials, mechanics and function are all magnificently addressed in Vipp’s kitchens, which are designed as a product or even better stated, as a piece of furniture. Continue reading

Farmhouse Schauberhof: a vacation to remember

farmhouse-design-sbrhf-2

As a designer and an avid traveler, I’m as happy as can be when this two aspects are combined. Which leads me to the story of my recent vacation in Germany’s Black Forest and the ‘Obere Donau’ nature reserve, where we stayed for a week at a stylish and oh-so-adorable vacation home in a tiny village called Bubsheim.

After a couple of hours drive from Munich’s airport we arrived at a historic, 260 year old farmhouse with a wooden fence and blue shutters. A few years ago the house was bought and lovingly restored by its owners, Christa Schmieder, who has done a wonderful job in maintaining the historic character of the house without compromising on modern appliances and luxury living. Graphic love in Poland: a young couple’s inspiring and playful loft

An old wooden house situated in the beautiful Polish countryside, just 30 min outside Warsaw, is the place where graphic designer Asia and her husband, alongside their fury family, reside and call home since about 4 years now.

The space has a loft like, open living character, divided in two levels. The main level hosts the living room, dining & cooking area all communicating with one another. The only walls and door belong to the bathroom on this level. On the second floor, a bedroom, a working area and a private bathroom are all reached via the narrow but extremely beautiful and charming white staircase. I totally fell for the detail of the added wooden stool as an easy way up the first stairs, which are somehow higher elevated. Continue reading
