Beaconsfield house: a sanctuary in the sky with beach views

The pictures you are about to indulge yourself in are strolling in the corridors of true art. Since I’ve seen this apartment I’m absolutely smitten. What moves me the most is the amazing people involved for such a residence and pictures of it to take flesh and bones.

A couple with a vision, a super talented architect, a charismatic interior stylist and an equally talented photographer, who also happen to be friends and often work together. There is so much well performed architecture out there, and the same is for the work of stylists and photographers. I believe it is the combination and engagement of amazing people that leave an unforgettable imprint on what we perceive as an outcome. Continue reading

A rather ideal way of urban living, all in white, black and grey

modern-urban-living

“Urban living in white, black and concrete grey” can well speak of this space in Stockholm’s Annedal, located just next to the water surface. How absolutely wonderful may I exclaim! Simple, clean lines, a sense of minimalism and using white as a canvas are all characteristics of Scandinavian design greatly represented here. Continue reading

Farmhouse Schauberhof: a vacation to remember

farmhouse-design-sbrhf-2

As a designer and an avid traveler, I’m as happy as can be when this two aspects are combined. Which leads me to the story of my recent vacation in Germany’s Black Forest and the ‘Obere Donau’ nature reserve, where we stayed for a week at a stylish and oh-so-adorable vacation home in a tiny village called Bubsheim.

After a couple of hours drive from Munich’s airport we arrived at a historic, 260 year old farmhouse with a wooden fence and blue shutters. A few years ago the house was bought and lovingly restored by its owners, Christa Schmieder, who has done a wonderful job in maintaining the historic character of the house without compromising on modern appliances and luxury living. Scandinavian design is admittedly hard to resist, regardless of one’s personal inclination decorating style, dare I say. The Wall-All Apartment: Life is a Picnic

nyc-apartment-renovation-hca

This New York City apartment really intrigued me. Renovated by Haiko Cornelissen Architects, the goal was to significantly increase the main living space by compressing other functions (like kitchen and office) into the wall of the apartment. They achieved this using a system of siding doors and creatively concealed storage solutions. Continue reading
